While much can be said about wireless technology, it’s ease of use, it’s innumerable ‘hands-free’ applications, the covert nature with which you can be talking with someone live in front of you and someone far, far away at the same time and the person you’re standing next to has no idea; there is something even (sadly) more popular than this technology in wireless; wireless ringtones! With people ever fickle and never satisfied by their current cadre of ringtones, there is seemingly this endless, slow-drip of new ringtones coming out all the time.
Many free ringtones are the fault of the phone companies! Verizon keeps its users plugged in; not only to their phones and their website but also to their wireless ringtones. Free Verizon wireless ringtones are available for download on the Verizon website and in other places online. Just be careful that you’re not downloading spyware or adware or some other as yet unnamed “ware” computer virus.
Cingular is another phone company who offer free wireless ringtones both on its website and at various other access points for Cingular customers in partnership with other applicable websites.
There are also free ringtones available from other wireless providers; even if they’re not necessarily wireless providers anymore. Take, for example, AT&T. Cingular is now the new AT&T but AT&T still offers its own free ringtone downloads for phones still emblazoned with the AT&T wireless insignia.
Another party to blame for the proliferation of the wireless ringtone phenomena is the phone companies themselves. Take, for example, LG. In cahoots with the provider, there are free ringtones for LG Verizon wireless phones available all the time. Every time LG comes out with a new phone or LG and Verizon take on a new ad campaign together, you’re always hearing about the great new LG phone that comes free from Verizon with a lifetime commitment in shackled servitude.
Cricket wireless is another huge presence on the internet; while not a domestic company the World Wide Web knows no borders and Cricket wireless takes full advantage of that, allowing downloads and thereby traffic for its web presence to US customers.
You can download free ringtones for your cellular phone at most company websites. While they used to egregiously charge an arm and a leg for upgrading your limited supply of choices for ringtones, now they’re available for free download. It may have even been the once worst offender, Verizon wireless and their now free ringtone download service which changed the tides. Ironic, isn’t it?
